On Sunday Oct. 21, we held our first kid-event of the semester at Herty Field. It was a beautiful fall day filled with fun activities that allowed members of Hero to spend some quality time with the children we support through our fundraising for Heros for Kids. Will Heaton, a sophomore History major at the University of Georgia, has been named the UGA HEROs Committee Member of the Week for the week of October 1, 2012 through October 5, 2012. Not only does HERO raise money for kids affected by HIV/AIDS in Georgia, but we also help UGA students find soul mates! On Tuesday, October 2nd, HERO hosted its annual Date Auction at Jerzee’s Sports Bar in downtown Athens. Many athletes, as well as fraternity and sorority members, were auctioned off. Over 35 UGA students participated on behalf of HERO! Rance Nix and Brittany Whiddon, the hilarious hosts for the evening, kept everyone laughing as they introduced all the dates. UGA HEROs Freshman Council is a unique experience for first year students who desire to learn more about UGA HEROs, expand their skills as a leader, and understand the true meaning of “WOW!”.
