It was a beautiful day on the golf course at the Georgia Club last Sunday (March 25)
when 12 teams came out to enjoy the day with UGA HEROs! Teams consisted of 4
people each but before the game started, the players were given coffee, donuts, bagels
and fruit so that they would be well nourished for the upcoming day. Registration ended
at 10 am and after the tournament officially began, the players were brought lunch from
the Varsity. They were given the opportunity to buy mulligans, and there were various
opportunities for the players to participate in competitions. On all the par three holes,
there was a closest pin competition and they were also given the option to pay on the
par five holes to shoot from a shorter distance.

At around 2:30, the teams started coming in from the green to turn in their score cards,
where they were greeted with drinks and snacks. A short while later, prizes were given
out for the competitions and for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the tournament. The winning
team was lead by one of our own, Michael Erdman, who was recently named the
Athletic Relations chair of UGA HEROs executive board. Team “Mike Erdmanʼs Motors”
consisted of Michael, his uncle, and his cousin. Mike Erdmanʼs Motors, Michaelʼs
fatherʼs company, was also a leading sponsor for the golf tournament. Following closely
behind in second place was the team for Flash Foods Inc. Third place in the
tournament went to the Takeuchi Family. Congratulations to all of the teams that placed
in the tournament and to the winners of the competitions! UGA HEROs would like to
extend a big thank you to Aspen Heights, Landmark Properties, The Exchange, Leon
Farmer & Co., Flash Foods Inc., and Mike Erdmanʼs Motors for sponsoring the Golf
Tournament and to Mike OʼMalley, the head golf pro of the Georgia Club, for his help
coordinating and setting up the event. Without the help of our sponsors and everyone
else involved, HERO would not have been able to realize close to $7500 from the golf
tournament this year!
