A few weeks ago, our organization had the pleasure of visiting Athens Corn Maze with 25 of our HERO kids. The kids were from both the Atlanta and Athens area. The children, who do not get to act like kids very often, loved the whole exciting fall outdoor atmosphere the corn maze had to offer. Our HERO members had the opportunity to interact with the children they raise money for by braving through the maze, riding hayrides, petting animals at the petting zoo, and decorating pumpkins. During the event, I had the opportunity to walk around and watch all the kids and members enjoying the beautiful fall day. I loved the fact everywhere I looked I saw huge smiles and all the members engaged and focused on the children.
The corn maze event was so great not only because it was a fun day with the kids, but because it was very inspiring to see how much of an impact these one day events have on these kids that usually have to worry about other much scarier things (medicine, food, money, etc.). I believe this event had an even bigger impact on the members of the organization to keep motivated and focused on our goal– to provide these children with life touching moments that they will forever remember!
To see how much fun we had at the corn maze, look at the past post for pictures!
